Istanbul Modern Arts Gallery, presents its second exhibition, the Recycle Project within the framework of Design Exhibitions 1, on May 26th.
Our first design exhibition will be held on May 26 th. We believe in that designers should not only be aware of aesthetic values but also be sensitive to social and ethical responsibilities by taking into consideration the needs of industry, consumers and environment. As a consequence, they could have the chance to guide the process of production, consumption and re-production. With respect to our environment, the greatest investment for the future is to minimize the use of natural resources, to reform the solid waste in order to get benefit in concept of recycling. In this context, in our first design exhibition, we ask our participants to work on the concept of recycling. In this exhibition which will gather 22 young designers having different academical and professional experiences, 27 art works will be on view where each work is made out of solid waste. The exhibition offers works that we use in ordinary life, made out of every kind of packing materials and solid waste such as glass, plastic bottles and glasses, newspapers and nylon bags, under the context of conceptual projects questioning our consuming habits.
